Stellenbosch is regarded as the Capital of the Wine Economy in South Africa, even though the biggest wineries in the country are nowhere near there.
Take a look at at this:
The range of mountains to the east of Cape Town were settled in the 1600’s by settlers from European countries who brought their knowledge of viticulture with them. Many of these early settlers were French Huguenots and their legacy can still be found in the names of the estates. Grande Provence, La Motte, Haute Espoir and L’Ormarins are some of the better known producers of fine wines founded by those early pioneers.
The town of Franschhoek is a magnificent valley with high mountain walls, and many different micro-climates, creating perfect conditions for a wide spectrum of quality wines. We can take you to meet some really famous wine-makers in this town too!
