Cape Town Restaurants
The Take 2 Tours Top Ten Restaurant guide to Cape Town and surrounding Towns
Cape Town has some of the best restaurants in the World.
If you are not confident to take a taxi to dinner, or if you do not want to drive, then we can arrange for transport to take there and bring you back. Charges are based on distance from your place of residence.
Take 2 Tours recommends:
*Baia, at the Waterfront. Oprah's favourite. Probably Cape Town's Best Seafood Restaurant
*The Portswood Hotel (Quarterdeck) and the Cape Malay Restaurant in Constantia are best for Traditional Cape Malay food where you CAN order wine to match, BUT if you really want to eat "authentic" Cape Malay, you must try the Bo-Kaap Kitchen which is situated right in the middle of the Muslim area called the Malay Quarter. For those of you who want cooking lessons......THIS WE CAN ARRANGE!
*African Steakhouse - I would recommend Khaya Nyama or Mama Africa - both in Long Street. The latter is a little noisy but loads of fun! Serious meat eaters should also include 1800, Carne and Belthazar on their itineraries.
*There is a wonderful restaurant in the Gold Museum which is not well known. Great food and exotic African ambience. And if you arrive early enough, they will give you a drumming lesson!
Gordon Ramsay has just opened his latest restaurant in Cape Town at the One and Only Hotel. The menu is creative and presentation impressive.
South Africa's Top Restaurant at the moment, is La Colombe in Constantia. Don't miss it!
And if you are staying for more than a couple of nights in Cape Town, try to squeeze in either Aubergine, Jardine, Myoga, The Opal Lounge, or my personal favourite.....Emily's, at the Waterfront.
For Gourmet Gurus, we suggest that you spend a night or two in the Cape Winelands. Famous restaurants such as Reuben's, Terroir and The Tasting Room are at least 45 minutes from Cape Town centre. It is worth staying in the area.
What often disappoints us about people who visit Cape Town, is that they do not make time for Theatre. We have world class theatre, opera and ballet throughout the year. Look at www.computicket.com for the full list of "what's on".
PLEASE REMEMBER
That between November and April, every Sunday afternoon, there is a live music concert at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. This is BIG tradition in Cape Town. If you book transport with us, we can also arrange a picnic for you. The concerts are reasonably priced (approx R60 per person) and picnics cost R110 per person. For a full list of the artists playing go to http://www.sanbi.org/frames/concertfram.htm
