Durban and Kwazulu-Natal
St. Lucia
St Lucia village is a village that is surrounded by an estuary, the Indian ocean and a Game Park - the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park - declared a natural world heritage site in December 1999. It is situated where the estuary meets the sea (needless to say a fisherman's paradise) and crocodiles, hippos, red duiker, bushbuck, impala, zebra, wildebeest, fish eagles, goliath herons and egrets can regularly be seen without entering the park.
In season, whales and dolphins can be seen from our beaches, as well as flamingos and pelican in the estuary - over a year period 542 different species of birds were counted. The village is behind the protected sand dunes and and it is restricted to 2 storey buildings (no breathtaking views). It is small (5 blocks by 4 blocks) and 2 km away from the beach.
To the south and southwest of Khula Village, and between it and Monzi, a community of some 10 000 has occupied the Dukuduku Forest where they provide a livelihood for themselves in the form of subsistence farming and the manufacture of crafts, essentially in the form of wood carving using the indigenous trees.
Transfers from Durban International Airport to St Lucia, and return = R 400pp (one-way) if 4 people are travelling. Couples travelling alone pay R 1080pp one-way.
If you prefer to collect a rented car at the airport and drive up yourself, we can arrange that too.
Accommodation is arranged according to your budget.
